What Perfect Breathing Actually Looks Like at Rest
Everyone asks what the perfect breathing rate is. Here's the honest answer. At rest, you want your breath quiet, nasal, comfortable, and unforced. Mouth closed, diaphragm leading, shoulders relaxed. For formal practice, most people do best around 5 to 6 breaths a minute — roughly 4 seconds in, 6 seconds out. For calming down specifically, make the exhale longer than the inhale: four in, six out, or four in, eight out for deeper relaxation. Try one now. Nose only. Four in... six out. That's it. And here's the part everyone gets wrong: don't force it. Don't strain to hit a perfect number. Good breathing is efficient, not effortful. Three quiet multipliers I use in the Ultra Breath Sequence: a gentle smile, following the breath with awareness, and letting the exhale lengthen on its own. Do that daily. That's mental fitness. Always comeback stronger!
